Water Supply to Remain Affected in Many Parts of Delhi Today
The disruption in water supply is being attributed to a major fault in pumps at Chandrawal water treatment, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said.
New Delhi: A day after incessant heavy rainfall brought the national capital to its knees by disrupting power supply in several areas amid severe waterlogging, the city is braving for continued disruption in water supply on Saturday.
The disruption in water supply is being attributed to a major fault in pumps at Chandrawal water treatment, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said.
In a post on X, the DJB wrote, “WATER ALERT Due to backflow of rain water during heavy rain in the morning on 28.06.2024, the clear water pump house developed major fault resulted into complete stoppage of pumping. Due to this, evening water supply from Chandrawal WW-II got affected on 28.06.2024 and further water supply will remain affected on 29.06.2024 also.”
On Friday morning, rain water flooded the pumps at the Chandrawal facility further compounding the water woes in the city.
List of Affected Areas
Several areas in the city are likely to get affected. Among the affected areas are Civil Lines, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Pahad Ganj, NDMC areas, Patel Nagar, Rajinder Nagar and parts of South Delhi.
The DJB advised people to store sufficient water in advance. It also issed emergency numbers in case of immediate need of water. It further said that water tankers will be available on request.
