'We've planted 11 bombs in Mumbai,' RBI gets threatening email

The RBI along with other banks in Mumbai namely HDFC and ICICI received bomb threats on Tuesday.

A threatening email was received at the RBI office at 10:50 am on Tuesday, in which the sender claiming to be from Khilafat India, threatened to have planted bombs at 11 places. The email ID, from which the threat as issued was khilafat.india@gmail.com.

The email stated that there was a threat of planting bombs at the RBI office as well as HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. Through the email, the resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Cabinet Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was demanded.

Threats were given of planting bombs at a total of 11 places in Mumbai, according to this email, the bombs would detonate at 1:30 pm today.

ANI, on X, wrote, “Maharashtra | RBI received a threatening email, in the email, it was said that bombs would be planted in RBI office, HDFC bank and ICICI bank and demanded the resignation of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. A total of 11 bomb threats were made at 11 places in Mumbai, Police went to all these places and investigated but did not find anything. A case has been registered and the probe is underway: Mumbai Police.”

Police went to all the places and investigated but nothing suspicious was found, in this regard. However, the MRA Marg Police have registered a case and started an investigation in the same.
