Prakasam (Andhra Pradesh): A team of Archaeologists have made a remarkable discovery in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district.

It is said to be the world's oldest ostrich nest, dating back a staggering 41,000 years, which is quiet fascinating to know.

This incredible discovery was made during an excavation at a fossil-rich site in Prakasam district.

The international team, comprising archaeologists from Vadodara University alongside experts from Germany, Australia, and the US, unearthed a massive nest containing over 900 ostrich eggs.

This archeological discovery has converted the district to a hot tourist destination overnight.

According to Devara Anilkumar, Assistant Professor at MSU's Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, “This discovery marks a pivotal moment in understanding the extinction of megafaunal species in India”.

"The presence of nearly 3,500 fragments of ostrich eggshells within a compact area of 1x1.5 meters not only confirms the historical presence of ostriches in Southern India but also establishes the existence of the world's oldest known ostrich nest.", Anil Kumar asserted.
