New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 25, addressed the 113th episode of monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. During the radio programme, Prime Minister Modi discussed a wide range of topics covering space, politics, recycling etc.

In his address, the PM asserted that India is making significant strides in 21st century towards building a 'Viksit Bharat'. He also reflected on his Independence Day appeal for one youngsters without a political background to join politics, highlighting the positive response it has received.

Here are the top quotes from PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' address:

  • “This year from Red Fort, I have urged one Lakh Youth who are not from a Political background to connect with the political system. This point of mine has garnered tremendous response. We thus come to know that a large number of our youth are eagerly ready to enter politics...”
  • "During the freedom movement, countless people from all walks of life came forward, even though they had no political background. They devoted themselves entirely to India's independence. Today, to achieve the vision of a Viksit Bharat, we need to rekindle that same spirit once again."
  • "On the 23rd of August, the country celebrated the first National Space Day. I am sure that all of you must have celebrated this day. Once again you all must have celebrated the success of Chandrayaan-3. Last year on this day, Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed at Shiv-Shakti point on the Southern part of the Moon. India became the first country in the world to achieve this feat."
  • “Paralympics are also starting in the coming days in Paris. Our Divyang brothers and sisters have reached there. 140 crore Indians are cheering for their athletes and players.”
  • “We celebrated Raksha Bandhan on 19th August. On the same day, 'World Sanskrit Day' was also celebrated all over the world. Even today, people in India and abroad have a special attachment towards Sanskrit. Various kinds of research and experiments are being conducted on Sanskrit language in many countries of the world.”
  • “Toy recycling is one such area in which we can work together. You also know how quickly many children get bored of toys, while there are children who dream of having those toys. You can donate the toys that your children no longer play with to places where they can be used. This is also a good way to protect the environment.”
  • "Children's nutrition is of topmost priority. While the focus on their nutrition is throughout the year, there is one month when the entire country places special emphasis on it. That's why every year, from September 1st to September 30th, we observe 'Poshan Maah'. To make people aware about nutrition, many methods are adopted like nutrition fairs, anaemia camps, home visits of newborn babies, seminars, and webinars."
  • “Paralympics are also starting in the coming days in Paris. Our Divyang brothers and sisters have reached there. 140 crore Indians are cheering for their athletes and players.”
  • “Something amazing is happening in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, which you must know about. Our sanitation workers have done wonders there. These brothers and sisters have shown us that the message of 'Waste to Wealth' has been transformed into reality. This team has created amazing artworks from waste in a park in Jhabua. For this work, they collected plastic waste, used bottles, tyres and pipes from the surrounding areas.”
  • “Our young friends of Arunachal Pradesh are second to none in their love for animals. Some of our young friends in Arunachal have started using 3D printing technology - do you know why? Because they want to save wild animals from being hunted for their horns and teeth. This team, led by Nabam Bapu and Likha Nana, does 3D printing of different parts of animals. Be it the horns or teeth of animals, all these are prepared through 3D printing. Then things like dresses and hats are made from this. This is a great alternative in which bio-degradable material is used. Such wonderful efforts cannot be appreciated enough. I would say that more and more start-ups should come up in this field so that our animals can be protected and the tradition can also continue.”
