New Delhi: Online food ordering platform Zomato on Thursday announced that it has decided to shut down its ‘Zomato Legends’ service which was famously known for delivering food from well known restaurants from other states to a customer sitting in a different state.
Announcing the decision to shut down the operations, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said that after two years, the company realised that Zomato Legends was not ‘Market Fit’ and hence a decision was made.
What is Zomato Legends Service?
The feature on the Zomato app allowed customers to order iconic and famous dishes from other cities in India. The service was only available to select customers in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other cities. Zomato had also increased the minimum order value to Rs 5,000 to make each delivery more profitable as its previous feature known as ‘Intercity Legend’ had no purchase cap for the consumers.
Zomato Introduces ‘Group Ordering’ Feature
Recently, Zomato also introduced a new feature for its customers which is group ordering.

CEO Goyal said that the group ordering feature will help those ordering in a group through a common link.
“You can now share a link with your friends, and everyone can add to the cart seamlessly, making ordering together faster and easier. No more passing the phone around awkwardly to collect everyone's order. We’re gradually rolling it out to all customers as we speak. In case the feature is available to you, please use it for your house party tonight, and tell us how it goes,” he said.
