Bank Holidays 2024: Bank Holidays 2024:Indian banks are set for an extended holiday weekend, with closures from October 1 to October 3. Banks were closed on October 1 for the General Elections to the State Legislative Assembly and on October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti. On October 3, banks will observe a holiday for Navratri Sthapna, as per RBI guidelines.
However, not all banks in India will be closed, the closures will be limited to specific states.
According to the RBI , banks in Rajasthan , including the capital city of Jaipur, will be closed on October 3. Banks in cities such as Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok , Guwahati, and across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram will remain open.
October 3rd is considered an auspicious day in 2024, marking the celebration of Ghatasthapana Muhurat (Kalash), which signifies the beginning of the Navratri festival.
