Bank Holiday 2024: India will celebrate Diwali on October 31, 2024, with banks across several states remaining closed for the festival. 

Diwali is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm and is a significant public holiday.

In states like Andhra Pradesh, Goa , Karnataka, Kerala , Puducherry, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, banks will observe a holiday on Thursday, October 31.

Meanwhile, states including Delhi, Maharashtra , Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal will mark Diwali a day later, with banks closed on Friday, November 1.

Bank Holidays in October 2024

In addition to the Diwali closures, banks will remain shut for 15 days in October 2024 due to national and regional holidays, including weekends. Here is the full list of bank holidays for the month:

Banks follow the Reserve Bank of India's ( RBI ) guidelines, which include regular weekend closures and national and regional holidays. They remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
