Info: Northern Railway on Monday imposed a temporary restriction on the sale of platform tickets at major stations to reduce festival crowding, the move coming after nine people were injured at Western Railway's Bandra Terminus while trying to board a train to Gorakhapur in Uttar Pradesh.

Platform Ticket Sale

Northern Railways is restricting platform ticket sales at major stations in the national capital, including New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar, and Delhi Sarai Rohilla. This restriction will remain in effect until November 6th.

Special Trains and Additional Facilities
To accommodate the increased passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath, the Northern Railway has introduced special trains in various regions, supplementing the regular train services. Additionally, temporary ticket counters, help desks, food stalls, drinking water facilities, and toilets have been set up at Anand Vihar Railway Station to enhance passenger convenience.

Regional Railways Implement Special Measures
Railways across northern and eastern regions have released lists of special trains that will operate during this period. These measures aim to ensure smooth travel for passengers and prevent overcrowding at stations.

Safety First
The decision to halt platform ticket sales and introduce special trains is a proactive step to prioritise passenger safety and manage the influx of travellers during the festive season. Railway authorities are urging passengers to plan their journeys in advance, purchase tickets online, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours.
