In a recent directive, the Railway Board has instructed all railway zones to extend the existing train time table, known as Trains At A Glance (TAG), until December 31, 2024. This extension comes as the Railway Board reviews the timings and running status of trains to enhance efficiency.

Traditionally, the Indian Railways releases the working time table of trains before June 31 each year, with the schedule effective from July 1 to the following June 31. However, this year, the release of the new time table has been postponed to January 1, 2025. Until then, the current time table will remain in effect.

An official from the Railway Board stated, “The Railway Board is reviewing the timings and running status of trains. The Board wants to make it more efficient hence the release date of the new time table has been extended to January 1, 2025, and till then the old time table will continue.”

On June 27, 2024, the Railway Board issued a circular to the general managers of all 17 zones, instructing them to extend the existing TAG until December 31, 2024. Following this, the North Central Railway (NCR) released a circular on June 28, notifying the extension.

The circular stated, "It is notified for information of all concerned that Trains At A Glance 2024 should now come into effect from 01st January. Accordingly, the TAG should be extended till 31st December 2024." It further clarified that the validity of the existing working time table for Prayagraj (PRYJ), Jhansi (JHS), and Agra Cantt (AGC) will also be extended until December 31, 2024, with the new schedule taking effect from January 1, 2025.

The North Western Railway also issued a similar circular to the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Ajmer divisions, instructing them to adhere to the existing time table. The Railway Board official confirmed that all other divisions have implemented this directive and issued corresponding circulars to their respective divisions.

As per the NCR's circular, all trains will continue to operate according to the schedule of the existing Working Time Table-2023 and any corrections or revisions issued subsequently.
