He had to leave the lucrative position, though, since he was passionate about becoming a civil servant. He didn't succeed in his first attempt at the UPSC CSE in 2012. Subsequently, in 2013, he made another attempt that gain him a position in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). Within Customs and Central Excise, he was employed as an Assistant Commissioner. 

UPSC: Finished Number One

Anudeep kept trying to crack the UPSC CSE exams. His attempts to pass the test in 2014 and 2015 did not result in his desired outcome of becoming an IAS officer. But rather than putting a dent in his enthusiasm, these repeated setbacks increased it. Thus, he took the exam a fifth time in 2017. Unexpectedly, he not only made it onto the final recommended list of IAS candidates, but he also finished first in the UPSC CSE 2017 (AIR 01) exam without any coaching!
