Young Innovator Hardik Kumar Dewan Honored with India Book of Records for Philanthropic Efforts
New Delhi, Haryana (India), September 13, 2024: The India Book of Records has acknowledged a 19-year-old philanthropist, Hardik Kumar Dewan, for his considerable philanthropic activity, which he started when he was just 15 years old. He has experience in social welfare and has had an impact on various sectors, including food security, healthcare support, and environmental sustainability.
The India Book of Records citation reads: “IBR Achiever Hardik Kumar Dewan (born on October 23, 2005) of Ambala, Haryana , is titled as ‘IBR Achiever’ for performing philanthropic initiatives like ‘Greenify India’ in order to promote environmental sustainability; ‘Foodonation Campaign’ to donate food to unprivileged sections of society; designing a protective ‘Co-Terminator Shield’ to aid the front-line medical workers during COVID-19, and more, through the ‘Hardik Dewan Foundation’, at the age of 18 years and nine months, as confirmed on August 17, 2024.”
In response to this recognition, Hardik stated, “Receiving the India Book of Records recognition for philanthropy inspires me to work even harder for the people of India. Every effort I make, every step I take, every initiative I lead, is dedicated to the progress of our nation, and I remain committed to serving society and contributing to its growth.”
Hardik’s philanthropic journey began at the age of 15, culminating in the establishment of the Hardik Dewan Foundation in 2021. The foundation focuses on critical areas such as women’s empowerment, child development, education, healthcare, technological development, youth empowerment, and climate change. He is a first year student pursuing BA LLB (Hons) from Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies, New Delhi.
One of the foundation’s notable initiatives is the GREENIFY campaign, which aims to promote environmental sustainability through tree planting and community engagement. The ‘Foodonation Campaign’ has been helpful in providing meals to underprivileged communities addressing food insecurity in the region.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hardik’s innovative spirit led to the creation of the ‘CO-TERMINATOR SHIELD’, a protective device designed to support frontline medical workers. “The pandemic showed us the true heroes in our society. I felt compelled to contribute in any way I could to support our healthcare workers,” Hardik shared.
Apart from his philanthropic work, Hardik has made significant strides in technology and entrepreneurship. He developed ‘Beetle Messenger’, an Indian messaging application that garnered over 20,000 downloads, demonstrating his commitment to advancing India’s technological scene.
Hardik’s portfolio of initiatives is as follows:
- Beetle: India’s indigenous messaging platform focused on privacy and national issues, launched by Hardik.
- Co-Terminator Shield: A protective shield developed for medical practitioners, featuring air cooling, ionisation, SOS systems, and mobile application connectivity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- ItsCoolApp: Co-developed school management software under the Digital India Initiative, benefiting over 2000+ students and streamlining educational processes.
- Foodonation: A campaign under the Hardik Dewan Foundation aimed at reducing food waste and providing food to underprivileged communities.
- Greenify India: An environmental initiative promoting sustainability, focusing on tree planting, climate action, and community engagement, aligned with UN SDGs.
- World Teen Parliament: Hardik was elected as a Member of Parliament (representing India) in the world’s first and only global parliament for teenagers, an initiative by UNESCO-MGIEP and Save The Children.
- Book, ‘Why India Needs Its AJNA?’: A book by Hardik focused on developing India’s indigenous technological ecosystem, appreciated by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu , Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar and more.
Hardik's influence extends to the global stage, evidenced by his election to the World Teen Parliament, where he represents India as a Member of Parliament for 2024. His impact on the digital platforms is equally impressive. He organised Haryana ’s first and largest YouTubers and Influencers Meet, engaging over 70 digital influencers with a combined reach of 100 million+ on social media. This event in Gurugram was attended by prominent figures, including Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, further cementing Hardik’s role as a bridge between traditional leadership and the new wave of digital influencers.
