Make-up creators this year experimented with several looks. From strawberry-girl makeup to Barbiecore aesthetic makeup microtrends emerged on the scene faster than the seasons. In 2023, there was no shortage of looks to try on. Here is a rewind at all the trends that dominated social media.

Natural brows

Back in the mid-to late-2010s, eyebrows that were dark, bold, and "Insta-worthy" were popular. However, since then, more people have chosen to look more natural. People used a simple gel to slick back their eyebrows rather than using darker eyebrow shades. Because your eyebrows are no longer the focal point of the look, more attention can be paid to the rest of your makeup.

Siren eyes

While smoky eyes have always been popular, siren eyes are more of an attitude than a physical feature. It gives the ensemble a hint of sultriness and elevates the smudgy eye look. By applying eyeshadow that is darker around the edges of your eyes and angled upward to create a cat-eye shape, you can easily achieve the dramatic look of siren eyes.

‘No-makeup’ makeup look

With certainty, we can state that 2023 has also been about using minimalism to make a statement. Even this year, the classic "no makeup" look was incredibly popular.

Dewy skin

This summer introduced a new trend, dewy skin, in contrast to the popular matte looks of the previous winter and fall seasons. The soft shine created by the warm summer sun accentuates this carefree, natural look. Avoiding appearing overly shiny or oily is crucial if you want to try this look, as it can easily happen when you're outside and in direct sunlight.

Barbiecore

Greta Gerwig did a great job with Barbie, but what connected with the audience was Margot Robbie's gorgeous wardrobe in the film. This led to an entire movement of people adopting the Barbiecore trend, which entails wearing pink lipstick, nails, and clothes.
