Acne has been one of the most common problems found among people, irrespective of their gender. The cause behind it could be your diet, harmonal change, stress, unhygenic skincare and even lack of excercise. However, while focusing on sleep and diet could be beneficial, additionally, these 7 DIY face masks can help maintain clear and healthy skin.

What is acne?

According to NIAMS, Acne is a common skin condition that happens when hair follicles under the skin become clogged. Sebum—oil that helps keep skin from drying out—and dead skin cells plug the pores, which leads to outbreaks of lesions, commonly called pimples or zits. Most often, the outbreaks occur on the face but can also appear on the back, chest, and shoulders.

DIY Face masks for acne

1. Turmeric face mask

Turmeric with its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antioxidant properties helps treat and prevent acne and scarring. Mix 1/2 cup of chickpea flour and 2 tsp of turmeric powder and ghee or almond oil, and combine them with water to make a paste. Apply and leave for 5 minutes. Rinse it with cold water.

2. Cucumber mask

Cucumber is known for its soothing effect, which reduces inflammation. irritation and pain. To make a mask, blend one small cucumber with 1 cup of oatmeal. Apply on the affected area for at least 30 minutes and rinse with cold water.

3. Honey Mask

Honey with its anti-bacterial properties treats inflamed acne, wounds, and burns. Just apply organic honey over the face for 30 minutes, later rinse it with lukewarm water.

Meanwhile, you can also try a Yogurt mask for oily skin, an egg white mask for the removal of dirt, grime, and surplus oil that clogs pores, and a Banana-lemon mask to eliminate the unwanted sebum that sits on your skin.
