Radha Ashtami, also known as Radha Jayanti, celebrates the birth of Goddess Radha, the beloved consort of Lord Krishna. This auspicious festival occurs on the Ashtami Tithi during Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month, generally falling between August and September. It is observed 15 days after Janmashtami, honoring Radha’s deep devotion and love for Krishna. Major celebrations take place in Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Nandgaon, where the divine romance between Radha and Krishna is cherished.
For 2024, Radha Ashtami will be observed on Wednesday, September 11.

Radha Ashtami 2024 Puja rituals
Devotees begin their day early during Brahma Muhurta with a holy bath, followed by thorough cleaning of the home and puja space. Radha and Krishna idols are placed on a wooden plank after being bathed in Panchamrit. The idols are then dressed in fine clothes, adorned with jewelry, and decorated with fresh flowers.

A desi ghee diya is lit, and an array of bhog prasad, including fruits and sweets, is offered. Devotees present shringar items to Goddess Radha and seek her blessings. The day includes reciting Vedic mantras, with the Radha Gayatri Mantra being especially auspicious. Visiting Radha Krishna temples and offering prayers are integral parts of the celebration. The fast is concluded in the evening with the offering of bhog prasad to the Goddess, which is then shared among family and friends.
