As New year is just around the corner, many people will feel inspired to make some resolutions to inculcate change in their day to day lifestyle. Most of these resolutions fall under the category of fitness. Many people want to bring changes in their regular lifestyle in order to strengthen their fitness regime.

According to many researchers, a significant proportion of these resolutions are mostly abandoned within the first few months of the year. However, if you are someone who is looking to make fitness changes and is worried about sticking to them, here are a few small things you can change so that you can commit to those throughout the year.

Incorporate fruits and vegetables in your daily diet

Start your New Year on a healthy note by switching to food and vegetables instead of junk food. Food and vegetables, especially green and leafy vegetables are rich in nutrients and vitamins, thus contributing to a healthy lifestyle. Make your goals smart yet achievable. Don’t change too much in one go. Start slowly and once it becomes a routine, inculcate more changes.

Focus on incremental changes

If you have just started exercising, begin with a 15-minute routine and then slowly increase the duration. Taking things slowly will reduce the risk of burnout and injury. The intensity of workout also needs to be taken care of. Take slow steps, don’t do everything, all at once.

Increase water intake

Make sure you drink enough water daily. Hydration is very important. Drinking water at regular intervals also ensures hunger control and it will keep you full.

Ensure sleep hygiene

Sleep for 8 hours every night to keep your energy levels in check. The amount of sleep that you get is directly proportional to your health and wellness. Good sleep also improves your brain performance and mood. Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases ranging = from heart disease and stroke to obesity and dementia.

Prioritise nutrition

Your fitness regime can never be complete without a balanced diet. Focus on incorporating more whole foods like fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Always remember, moderation is key. You can have your fair share of cheat days but always prioritise nutrition.
