Andhra Pradesh cuisine is native to Telugu people including Telangana as well. The Andhra cuisine is extremely flavourful with its hot, tangy, and spicy taste. It comprises of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes which includes biryani, pickles, chutneys and sweets. Here is the list of few of popular dishes one should not miss out when you are visiting this state.

Pulihora

Pulihora is simple tamarind rice. It is prepared with kokum, tamarind, lemon or green mango as the main souring ingredient along with a blend of spices, lentils, peanuts and jaggery cooked in oil with fried curry leaves and turmeric.

Pesarattu

Pesarattu or cheeldo is a crepe like bread , variety of dosa. It is made from green gram batter and is eaten as a breakfast. It is served with ginger chutney, peanut chutney or tamarind chutney.

Chepa Pulusu 

Chepa Pulusu  is fish curry, which is prepared by cooking fresh fish pieces in tangy tamarind sauce with lots of hot spices.

Andhra Chicken Biryani

Andhra Chicken Biryani is a mix of spices, including red chilies and black pepper, which makes it a spicy and flavourful dish. It is served with raita.

Gutti Vankaya Kurra

Gutti Vankaya Kurra is a curried dish of stuffed eggplants from Andhra and Telangana dishes. Small brinjals are stuffed with a spicy peanut masala and simmered with onions, tomatoes, spices and curry leaves.

Uppudu Pindi

Uppudu Pindi is upma made with mung beans and coarsely pounded rice flour. it is eaten with some Avakai (mango pickle) and Perugu (Dahi) on the side.
