Winters season is not only considered as a festive season but also one of the best times to treat the tastebuds. Here are some must-try food dishes for winter.

Every season in India has its significance. As the season changes after every 4 to 5 months, the changes in climate and atmosphere suggests that we make necessary changes in our routine diet too. The winter season has many seasonal foods that many of us crave. Here is the list of food that you can add in your must-try list.

Sarson da Saag aur Makki di Roti

The winter-special dish of Punjab, cooked with green sarson leaves is one of the most appealing winter delicacies and is only available for this season. The saag, traditionally served with Makki Di Roti flowing with desi ghee, tastes best with a dollop of homemade white butter and jaggery. It is available seasonally in restaurants and hotels which serve traditional Punjabi food.

Undhiyu

This mixed-vegetable dish is a regional speciality of Gujrat's state Surat. Undhiyu is usually prepared during winters. It is traditionally cooked upside down in an earthen pot. This spicy mixed-vegetables taste best when garnished with freshly grated coconut.

Gajar Ka Halwa

This sweet dish is considered as a signature sweet of the season by many of us. The winter in India seems incomplete to most of the Punjabis if they haven't tasted Gajar Ka Halwa during winters. Known to have originated from Punjab, this dish with grated carrots, milk, sugar, and nuts are stirred and prepared together. 

Gushtaba

This Kashmiri meat dish is mouth-watering and a treat to the tastebuds of non-vegetarians. It tastes spicy in general. To prepare this dish, pale meatballs are cooked with saffron-yoghurt curry.

Lilva Ki Kachori

It is a popular Rajasthani kachori for the winter season. It is generally stuffed with lilvas which looks similar to green peas but are different. For better taste, potatoes and onion can be mixed too in the stuffing. Lilvas are especially available in winters served with pudina or dhaniya chutney
