Here are some of the most important reasons why you must never skip breakfast:

1. Breaking the fast

The fast that your body has held since the time you went off to sleep and till the time you wake up in the morning needs to be broken. You are literally breaking this fast. It is necessary to have your first meal within two hours of waking up. This has an impact on how levels of glucose, and the insulin that brings glucose to cells to be used for energy, are regulated for the rest of your day.

2. Reduces the risk of heart diseases

People who usually skip breakfast are exposed to the risk of heart disease. Such people normally overeat for the rest of their day. Overeating is an obvious reason behind weight gain, which can lead to high cholesterol levels and even issues related to blood pressure.

3. Reduces the risk of diabetes

People who skip breakfast are more likely to eat unhealthy and larger meals later in the day. This habit messes up insulin levels. In a recent study, it was found out that people who did not eat in the morning had a 21 per cent higher risk of developing diabetes than those who had their breakfast.

4. Promotes weight loss

If your breakfast is the largest meal of your day followed by a minimal lunch and dinner, then you are on your way to shedding extra pounds. In a study, it was discovered that people who consumed more calories in the morning lost an average of 17.8 pounds over three months while those who ate less during their breakfast and more later in the day lost just 7.3 pounds.
