On the birth anniversary of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) founder Velupillai Prabhakaran on November 26, another politician has come up with the claim that the former is alive.

Earlier in February this year, Tamil politician Pazha Nedumaran said that the guerilla fighter was “alive and well,” 14 years after being declared dead by the Sri Lankan government. Nedumaran also claimed that Prabhakaran will soon make a public appearance and liberate the Tamil race.

"We believe that Velupillai Prabhakaran is still alive, and we have celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake. The person who has been with him (Prabakaran), like Pazha Nedumaran and Kashi Anandan, will not lie," Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko said on Prabhakaran's birthday.

Prabhakaran was officially declared dead on May 18, 2009 in Sri Lanka's Mullaitivu, putting an end to 2.5-decade-long civil war.

"I would like to reveal some truths about LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. I am happy to reveal a truth that would dispel doubts about Prabhakaran. We would like to tell all the Tamil people that LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran is healthy and fine," Nedumaran had said.

"Let me inform you that he (Prabhakaran) is soon going to announce a plan for the liberation of the Tamil race. All the Tamil people of the world should support him together," he further said.
