Koeman: 'Messi is free to decide if he stays or goes'

Ronald Koeman has insisted that captain Lionel Messi is free to decide whether he signs a new contract with the club or leaves for free at the end of the season.

Messi, is now free to talk to clubs over a Bosman transfer when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

"He is free to manage his situation and to make a decision whenever he wishes," Koeman said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona's trip to Huesca on Sunday.
