Children with mental and physical disabilities watched the Olympic Games at a Tokyo school using high technology provided by Japanese companies on Monday.

The viewing event, which took place in Bokuto School for Physically Handicapped in Tokyo, saw four different schools for children with mental and physical disabilities participate.

The students were able to communicate with athletes through a camera, dance with the Olympic mascot robot, and watch games inside a virtual reality dome.

The robot was provided by Toyota Motor Corps, and the VR dome was operated by Panasonic Corps.

Shinya Shoji, the Principal of Bokuto School for Physically Handicapped where the event was held, said he hopes the success of the event will open the way for other similar ones to be held anywhere in the world.
