Associated Press' US Entertainment Video Editor, Brooke Lefferts spoke to TIME Executive Editor and Editorial Director of Person of the Year, Ben Goldberger on naming Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James as Time's Athlete of the Year for 2020.
James helped lead his team to the NBA title earlier this year as well as being active with a number of social justice causes including his "More Than An Athlete" organisation.
Time also announced South Korean music group BTS had won Entertainer of the Year while the shortlist for Time's Person of the Year, which will be announced during a TV special on Thursday evening in the U.S. are: President-elect Joe Biden, President Donald Trump, front-line healthcare workers and Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the racial justice movement.
