Boxing fans were horrified when US boxer Tramaine Williams collapsed and appeared to suffer a seizure during a Team Combat League match. Williams, a 20-2 featherweight boxer, was leading the fight for the NYC Attitude against the Las Vegas Hustle when he suddenly stopped, leading to the terrifying incident.
The incident took place in the very first round of the Team Combat League event. Team Combat League features a unique boxing format where large teams of fighters, sometimes up to 24, interchange to box individual rounds, aiming to accumulate a combined points total to defeat the opposing team. During his round, Williams froze in place with one arm raised. This occurred without him being punched by his opponent, Ryan Allen.
Allen, seemingly baffled by the situation, also stopped fighting. Williams then suddenly fell forward onto his face, collapsing instantly. The referee quickly intervened, waving off the fight and calling for immediate medical attention for Williams. The boxer was then taken to the hospital.
Thankfully, he was discharged just a few hours later. A statement from his team, the NYC Attitude, read: "Thank you everyone for your love and support."
"NYC fighter Tremaine Williams was discharged from the hospital and is doing well."
Williams took to social media himself not long later and said: "I'm good, the doctor said I was too dehydrated. I'm good though."
The clip has since gone viral on social media, with fans sending well wishes to Williams and hoping for his speedy recovery.
The aforementioned are some of the reactions of fans on socia media.
