USA and Canada kickstarted the T20 World Cup 2024 with the first group stage fixture in Dallas, Texas. USA batter Aaron Jones was the star of the night.

If there were any concerns over whether the T20 World Cup 2024 will be a thrilling, lights out, and entertaining affair or not, then all those doubts and fears of it panning out to be a dull affair were quickly thrashed and the cricket world has no one to thanks other than USA sensation - Aaron Jones.
The host nation of USA kicked off the T20 World Cup 2024 with a match against neighbouring nation Canada in Dallas, Texas. Canada batted first and set a target of 195 for USA to chase. In the second innings, Canada started strong but then - Aaron Jones happened.

The 29-year old right handed bat for USA, Jones unleashed mayhem upon Canada as he led USA to an astonishing chase as they emerged victorious over Canada with seven wickets and 14 balls to spare.

Aaron Jones record breaking knock
Aaron Jones a relative unknown in the cricket world before today announced his and Team USA's arrival on the world stage as he became the first and only player Chris Gayle to smash a whopping 10 sixes in a T20 World Cup game.
Jones also became the first player from any Associate Nations to hit 10 sixes in a single T20 World Cup innings. Jones' unbeaten 94 runs in 40 deliveries opened the T20 World Cup on an absolute blast and has set the tone for what is to be expected from the tournament going forward.

The only player to have scored more sixes than Aaron Jones in a T20 World Cup innings is Chris Gayle when he smashed 11 sixes against England at Wankhede Stadium in 2016. Gayle is also tied with Jones for second highest sixes in T20 World Cup innings with 10.

Aaron Jones 94 not out is also the second highest total by any player in a T20 World Cup opener.
USA have added two points on their board and will now prepare to face Pakistan in their second group stage fixture on Thursday, 6th June.
