Pakistan started their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in the worst possible way as they collapsed against host nation and newcomers in cricket, USA in one of the biggest upsets in sport’s history.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was left embarrassed at the end of contest as his side was thoroughly outplayed. USA didn’t only create a big upset in cricket but according to their skipper Mohank Patel they have exposed Pakistan’s biggest weakness in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan batting first set a target of 160 runs to chase and in reply, USA came out all guns blazing. Inspired by skipper Monank Patel’s innings and Aaron Jones, the home side chased valiantly but could only muster up 159 runs at the end of 20 overs.

With the score tied the match progressed into super over where USA emerged victorious and shocked Pakistan.

How USA exposed Pakistan’s big weakness in T20 World Cup

According to USA captain, Pakistan have a big weakness in the T20 World Cup 2024 and that is they cannot cope under the pressure of the crowd with them and it will backfire for them in the end.

“In the huddle we talked about - there's no pressure for us. All the pressure is in front of Pakistan. We knew that we didn't have enough support from the crowd. Pakistan had more support from the crowd.I thought it will backfire on them, and if we play good cricket, they'll be more under pressure," said Monank Patel

Mohank Patel also confirmed that he thought USA should have finished the game in the 20 overs itself and the match shouldn’t have progressed to the super over.

“I thought we should have finished the game (in regular time) and we should have never gone to Super Over. I mean the way we kept our nerves…and in the Super Over particularly, scoring 18 runs gave us a big upper hand to defend the target,” said Monank Patel post game.

Pakistan’s loss will definitely sting them and a huge blow to their super 8 hopes, they will want to bounce back on top as they will face the herculean matchup against their eternal rivals in India on Sunday, June 9th in Nassau County Stadium at New York.
