Barcelona is ready to meet Valencia in their season opener as they get ready to start their La Liga 2024/25 campaign. Barcelona aims to start strong and sustain the momentum throughout the season under the direction of fresh manager Hansi Flick. Barcelona uses their roster strength and tactical approach to dominate the pitch and hopes to set the tone for the next games as their arch-rivals Real Madrid lifted the UEFA Super Cup this week.

Will Lamine Yamal play against Valencia in FC Barcelona’s season opener?

Lamine Yamal, a young prodigy from Barcelona, is currently in difficulty because his father, Mounir Nasraoui, was allegedly stabbed numerous times in a parking lot on Wednesday night, August 14. Spanish media reports state that a gang Nasraoui had seen earlier in the day attacked him near Mataró, north of Barcelona. Originally in critical state, he is now stable and under treatment at a Barcelona hospital.

This alarming event has caused questions over Yamal's availability for Barcelona's forthcoming games. Head coach Hansi Flick has said, nevertheless, that the 17-year-old may still be on the team for their La Liga opening against Valencia. According to Barca Universal, Hansi Flick said:

"Lamine Yamal could play tomorrow,"

Yamal briefly appeared as a substitute in Barcelona's last pre-season encounter, which ended in a 3-0 defeat to AS Monaco. He recently came back from a lengthy summer sabbatical, which was prolonged since he was participating in Spain's successful EURO 2024 quest. It will be interesting to see Yamal in Barcelona this season, as the youngster has been in his career’s best form so far.  Given the fact that big rivals Real Madrid seemed to be a beast in Europe with their star-studded squad after Kylin Mbappe. Barcelona have major hopes from the 17-year-old La Masia product.
