Lionel Messi plays padel ahead of Argentina’s Copa America clash against Canada

Fans of the Argentina great are adoring Lionel Messi's new pastime on social media. His close friend and Inter Miami player Luis Suarez was seen with him on the padel court. BeIN Sports reports that by winning the game, the former Barcelona players secured a family holiday.

Suarez had bet journalist Inaki Abadie that the loser would pay for the victors' and their families' vacations. The match was played in the United States, where Messi and Suarez are training for the next Copa America 2024. Each player could select a partner.

The story further said that Suarez frustrated Messi throughout the game by feigning an injury. The Argentine star has amused fans with a viral video of him swinging his padel racket with great energy on social media. 

This year's Copa America is Argentina's third major international championship. When Lionel Messi helped Argentina defeat Brazil 1-0 in the Copa America final in Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium in 2021, he ended his international title drought. Later, in 2022, he defeated France in the final to win the FIFA World Cup.

Thursday, June 20, is when La Albiceleste will play Canada in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, to begin their title defence. Group A opponents for Argentina will be Chile and Peru in addition to Canada.
