'I prefer to win': France star SPEAKS OUT against critics calling their play at Euro 2024 boring

France have caught some flak in their ongoing Euro 2024 campaign despite going unbeaten in their first two games of the tournament.  France beat Austria 1-0 in their opening game at Euro 2024 and they drew goalless with Netherlands in their second group game.

However, Didier Deschamps and his team has faced criticism for  playing a brand of football that is boring and lackluster in the tournament so far. However, French National team star was having none of these accusations and decided to shut critics up before their final group game against Poland.

The criticism comes from the fact that France have not scored a single goal in the tournament so far. Their opening 1-0 victory against Austria came through an own goal by Austrian defender. Despite having a few opportunities that fell to Antoinne Griezmann in their second group game against Netherlands, France failed to score and the match ended in a goalless draw. Hence there has been criticism that France play boring football to which their star player has responded.

France national team star speaks out against Critics

French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni wasn’t having none of the criticism that was coming France’s way as he was clear that it is not about playing good and entertaining football instead the main priority is winning.

He was clear that people have their own opinions on football and took a dig at them saying that they might want to play well but at the end of the day winning is all that matters.

“France played a boring game? There are people who prefer to play well, others win. I prefer to win, playing well or badly,” said Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Real Madrid midfielder further said that in years time people will only remember those who won and not those who played well.

“The important thing is to win. When you retire, people remember your achievements more than the way you play football,” said Aurelien Tchouameni.

France and Aurelien Tchouameni will now face Poland in their final group stage fixture. A win or a draw would guarantee France progression into the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
