'In a hurry...': Cristiano Ronaldo shares post-victory thoughts as Portugal thrash Turkey in EURO

Portugal showcased dominance in their Euro 2024 Group F clash against Turkey, securing a convincing 3-0 victory. The match unfolded with Bernardo Silva breaking the deadlock at the 21st minute, further compounded by Samet Akaydin's unfortunate own goal in the 28th minute, and Bruno Fernandes extending Portugal's lead at the 55th minute. Portugal's quality was evident with 57% possession, 12 shots, and 89% pass accuracy. The result solidifies Portugal's top spot in Group F, earning them six points from two matches and positioning them well for the upcoming knockout stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Portugal's victory against Turkey

Cristiano Ronaldo said he was proud to have guided Portugal to the Euro 2024 knockout round following a resounding 3-0 win over Turkey on Saturday, June 22 in Dortmund. With one game left, Roberto Martinez's team also took first place in Group F owing to this victory.

The Cristiano Ronaldo led team dominated the match from beginning to end, leading 21st minute goal that came from Manchester City star  Bernardo Silva. Bruno Fernandes and team sealed the victory 10 minutes into the second half, after a poor backpass by Turkish defender Samet Akaydin.

Cristiano Ronaldo's unselfishness was crucial to the third goal as he planned a breakaway attack and set up Fernandes, who scored with a simple tap-in.  The 41-year-old Pepe was one of the best players on the pitch he restricted Turkish attackers and was Portugal's crucial wall throughout the match.

Ronaldo posted on Instagram, translated from Portuguese, his joy following the remarkable win:

"In a hurry and first place guaranteed. Proud of this team, we are Portugal!"

In their last group match, Roberto Martinez's team will play Georgia on Wednesday, June 26 in Gelsenkirchen. This comes after they defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 earlier in the week.

Ronaldo's influence on the pitch is still evident even though he hasn't scored for Portugal in the UEFA Euro 2024. With 130 goals in 208 appearances for Portugal, the 39-year-old forward has established himself as the all-time leading scorer in international football. Ronaldo has scored 895 goals for his club and nation in his storied career.
