Lionel Messi has not been in action for MLS side Inter Miami ever since he got a high ankle injury during the Copa America Final against Colombia. According to coach Tata Martino, Messi will be back playing for the MLS side before the end of the season and will feature in some of their remaining nine games of the season.

Adding further Martino said he does not know when Messi will be back but the Argentine superstar and World Cup winner will feature in at least one of the club's nine remaining games of the season.

Tata Martino Gives Insight

“I wouldn’t be able to give an approximate number of days that he returns to training but it is not a situation that is too far away. There is a part of the injuries that have to do with the physical and there is a part of the injuries that has to do with the mental, so we have to overcome them both ways and I think that he is going through that process. He is feeling better and better. He has been working in the field for three or four days now. We cannot give time because we do not know and it would be speculating about something that may not be possible to do, but it is close,” said Martino on when he expects Lionel Messi to return.

The Season So Far

Despite the absence of their best player, Lionel Messi, Inter Miami have been doing quite well for themselves. They are currently at the top of the standings in the MLS Eastern Conference with 53 points. Inter Miami currently are all but confirmed to secure a spot in the playoffs for the MLS trophy.

Messi has been at Inter Miami for a year now and he has enjoyed his time in the United States.
