Kylian Mbappe debunks fake news con claims of a police investigation at his stay

Real Madrid player Kylian Mbappe has refuted claims of a police probe into a rape case connected to a hotel he visited in Sweden with pals. He turned to X to characterise the assertions as “fake news.”

Last week Mbappe and friends spent two days in Sweden, said Swedish publication Aftonbladet. Thursday evening, October 10, they dining Chez Jolie in Stockholm before making their way to V nightclub in Stureplan. He allegedly fled the country on Friday afternoon, October 11.

Following Mbappe's leaving, Aftonbladet said that police were looking into an alleged rape incident purported to have happened on Thursday night at the hotel he and his pals were at.

French media source RMC Sport presented the story on X after the first report, but it was eventually deleted. Mbappe swiftly denied the assertions and voiced his displeasure with the story. Kylian Mbappe tweeted: 

‘’FAKE NEWS!!!! ❌❌❌It's becoming so predictable, just before the hearing as if by chance.’’

On Monday, October 14 police showed up at the supposed crime site. According to Aftonbladet, the victim's seeking medical help started the inquiry. The prosecutor supervising the case has refrained from commenting on the topic.

This scenario develops just before a hearing on €55 million in outstanding salaries between Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain. On Tuesday, October 15, both parties are scheduled to meet with the LFP appeals committee.
