'Unbelievable, magical goal': Man United legend goes gaga over Garnacho's bicycle kick vs Everton

Three minutes into the game, Garnacho displayed a flash of genius that will go down as one of the most memorable goals of the Premier League season. The Argentine expertly hit an overhead kick from a lofted cross from Diogo Dalot into the upper left-hand corner of Jordan Pickford. According to Erik ten Hag, it might very well be regarded as the "goal of the season." During live commentary on Sky Sports, Gary Neville said:

He can’t believe it, Garnacho. I can’t believe it.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium to see an overhead kick as good as that - and I was there for Rooney’s in the Manchester derby. That was unbelievable. A magical, magical goal.

Alejandro Garnacho reacts to his sensational goal

Garnacho said after the game, in an interview with Sky Sports, that he didn't see the goal being netted. He said:

I can’t believe it! I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened to the sound and thought, ‘Oh my God’... it’s the best goal I’ve scored, of course.

Even though they've had a rough season, Manchester United has jumped to sixth place in the table, just six points behind league leaders Arsenal. Everton fans, on the other hand, were angry about the harsh punishment the club was given, which was the worst in Premier League history and made the environment hostile.

After two tough seasons fighting to stay in the league, Sean Dyche's team looked like they were on their way to safety after a recent run of great play. But, based on goal difference, they are just above the bottom of the table and five points away from safety.

The home fans got even more angry when VAR stepped in early in the second half and controversially gave United a penalty. Referee John Brooks initially sent Martial off for diving, but after a VAR check, he changed his mind. Manchester United won 3-0 after Bruno Fernandes gave Rashford the penalty kick. He took it and scored his first goal for the club since September 3, securing the win.
