It is a historic week for India as the profound world of Moto GP is finally about to set foot in the country. The Inaugural Indian Grand Prix MotoGP race is scheduled to take place this weekend at the Buddh International Circuit. While Some of the foremost racers have landed in India for BharatGP, a query that is at large is if there is an Indian contention in the race.

Indian contention in MotoGP Bharat
To the delight of the fans, there will be a local hero to cheer for in the BharatGP. At the Grand Prix, Chennai’s K.Y. Ahamed will be a part of the Moto 3 championship (two levels below MotoGP) as a wildcard entry. The 27-year-old national champion will compete in the Moto 3 class on a Honda NSF250R motorcycle for the PETRONAS MIE Racing Vision Track Racing squad. Ahamed will follow in the footsteps of S.Sarath Kumar, who drove one race in 2011 in the 125cc class, the precursor to Moto3.

Who is K.Y. Ahamed?
Ahamed's journey into the world of motorsport began during his schooling years at the Hindu High School in Chennai. His exceptional talent was discovered while racing on the streets of Triplicane by Jagan Kumar, a multiple-time Indian champion in motorcycle racing. Jagan Kumar introduced Ahamed to track racing in 2012. Initially, Ahamed's family had reservations about him pursuing a career in racing, but Jagan Kumar successfully convinced them about the safety and potential of racing on closed circuits.
26-year-old K.Y. Ahamed from Chennai, India was crowned 2020 Indian National Champion in the Pro-Stock 400 class. He has experience in Thailand Superbike 400 series and the Asia Cup Japan. Competing in the Asia Road Racing Championship aboard the TVS Racing Team’s TVS RR310 OMC.

Kadai Yaseen Ahamed has already had notable success in his racing career. For the upcoming Bharat MotoGP round, which will be held at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) from September 22 to 24, he obtained a wild card admission. Ahamed will participate in this famous event while driving a Honda NSF250R.
