Matilda Castren made history as the first player from Finland to win an LPGA Tour title when she came from behind to claim the Mediheal Championship on Sunday in Daly City, California.

Castren started the day two-shots behind third round leader Min Lee of Taiwan, but four birdies and an eagle on the opening nine holes vaulted her to the top then she held on to win by two-shots at fourteen-under after a final round 65.

The 26-year-old, who was born in New York City but returned home to Finland with her parents, won in just her 15th LPGA start.

Lee finished second at 12-under followed by Hannah Green and Seo-yeon Ryu at eight-under.
