MMA is undisputedly the fastest-rising sport in the world, and the rising sporting power, i.e., India, is not untouched by it. Unlike many sports, the sport does not incorporate complicated rules and is based on the principle that two men would compete against each other inside a ring and the better fighter would come out. This simple yet dreadful procedure comes as so captivating that wherever the sport arrives it gets accepted. Moreover, it gets further traction from fans when a representative of their country makes rounds on the international stage.

3 things you need to know

  • MMA as a sport is growing around the world
  • Bharat Khandare was India's first entry in the UFC
  • UFC is gaining significant traction in India

Who is India's premier name in MMA?

While UFC is gaining immense popularity in India, there is an alpha male from the country, who not only made it to the biggest MMA promotion in the world but also opened his win account inside the eminent Octagon. He calls himself as the King of Lions and made a resounding start in the most hard-hitting way. After winning the Road to UFC tournament, India's Anshul Jubli made a spectacular debut at the UFC Fight Night in February 2023.

Jubli defeated Indonesian Mixed Martial Artist Jeke Saragih to announce his and India's arrival in the UFC. Upon doing so, Jubli became the first MMA professional from India to secure a win in the Octagon. Following that, Jubli got a huge homecoming welcome and has been training ever since for his second bout in the Octagon.

He's been scheduled to feature at UFC 294- PPV event to take place on October 21, 2023.

First step to the journey of miles

Anshul Jubli fights in the UFC Lightweight division, the same weight class, whose strap has been currently held by Islam Makhachev, and where fighters like Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje are massive stars. Moreover, it is the division of the biggest ever MMA star, Conor McGregor. Therefore, Anshul is competing among the veterans and has the onus of not just representing but winning at that stage. And if he attains more success in the 8-sided closed figure then the inspiration will flow and more youngsters will take up this sport, which will ultimately push India to the forefront of MMA world.
