Despite that, Pereira is open to have a 5th meet-up in the ring against Adesanya and wants his rival to climb up the weight division to face him in the Light-Heavyweight division.

Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira's rivalry over the years

At Madison Square Garden, 'Poatan' became the UFC's seventh two-division champion when he knocked out Jiri Prochazka in the second round to claim the 205-pound title. While the light heavyweight class is crowded, the Brazilian is looking for payback in his next battle. During his post-fight interview, he mentioned his arch-rival, Israel Adesanya. Pereria and 'The Last Stylebender' have a lengthy history. When the two met in kickboxing prior to their UFC careers, it was 'Poatan' who came out on top both times.

Then, when he made the move to the UFC, he once again defeated Adesanya, knocking him out in the final round at UFC 281, capturing the middleweight title in the process.

Pereira's reign as king, however, was brief. Adesanya got his long-awaited retribution at UFC 287, knocking out 'Poatan' in the second round.

However, the Nigerian-born Kiwi has since lost his title to Sean Strickland and is now taking a break from the sport. So, despite the Brazilian's invitation, the 34-year-old doesn't appear to be interested in seeing his former adversary anytime soon, but that didn't stop him from having a little fun at Pereira's expense.
