On this day - 12th April - in 1941, England's World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore was born in Essex.
He would go on to play a then-record 108 times for England, skippering his country on 90 occasions.
Moore captained West Ham United to FA Cup glory at Wembley Stadium in 1964, the European Cup Winners' Cup the following season and led Sir Alf Ramsey's England side to triumph over West Germany in 1966.He died in February 1993 following a long battle against cancer.
