Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again pitched the idea of hosting the 2036 Olympics during the felicitation ceremony of the Asian Para Games athletes. PM Modi first coined India's intention to host the Olympics in the recently held 141st IOC session in Mumbai. India amassed a whopping 111 medals in the Para Asian Games this time, the highest medal tally so far.

PM Narendra Modi makes 2036 Olympics pitch again

PM Modi insisted India will do everything possible to earn the hosting rights for 2036. "We are witnessing India's growth in terms of sporting culture and sporting society...Now we are planning to host the 2030 Youth Olympics and 2036 Olympics.

"I'm always with you. I was living your every achievement and very victory. I want to congratulate all of you for this historical victory. You know sports are always extremely competitive. Sports is not only battle but also the battle inside you. Everyone is winner here, some came with victory while some came with experience and learning. These medals are the results of your hard work. We can understand your goal and aims."

India showcase dominance of the global stage

The Para Asian athletes backed up the Asian Games success to a notch further and recorded their best ever medal tally this edition. India finished fifth in the medals table with 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze medals. India's gold tally almost doubled from 15 while the total number of medals also saw a hefty rise from 72.
