WWE SmackDown Results: Tensions rise as Orton, Styles & Knight clash ahead of New Year's Revolution

 Friday Night SmackDown featured some of the Blue Brand's top superstars in action. Since the WWE gave everyone time off to celebrate Christmas with their families, they pre-taped the show at Green Bay, Wisconsin, at the Resch Center, where the previous Friday's show took place. AJ Styles, LA Knight, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and many more were at the show, and it also featured a Christmas-themed gimmick match.

WWE SmackDown Results: Final Blue Brand show of the year ends with brewing tensions

The Friday Night SmackDown opened with AJ Styles, who has set his eye on the Bloodline as they took him out of action three months ago. LA Knight eventually came out to confront Styles as he attacked in the preceding edition of SmackDown. Randy Orton also marched out to confront both, leading to Nick Aldis making a Triple-threat match for the New Year's Revolution edition of SmackDown.

Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Michin & Zelina Vega vs Damage CTRL (Holiday Havoc 8-Woman Tag Team Match)

A Holiday-themed SmackDown calls in for a gimmick match as the female superstars got involved in a Holiday Havoc 8-women Tag Team Match. It was a fun-filled match with some insane spots taking place. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn also played some interference as they had some troubles with the Bayley-led faction. After a lot of back and forth, Belair and team defeated Damage CTRL after Mia Yim hit a Senton off the top rope to the Women's Champion IYO SKY and pinned her.

Dragon Lee (c) vs Butch (NXT North American Championship Match)

Another action-packed match with two of the most promising superstars, and it looked rather painful as well. Both superstars went to the next level when it came to action. It was Dragon Lee's first title defence, and Butch was fired up to prove a point. Butch comes dangerously close to hitting the Bitter End, but Lee turns it into a Canadian destroyer. Dragon Lee successfully defends his title by hitting the Destino.

Kevin Owens vs Carmelo Hayes (U.S. Title Tournament Semifinal)

Kevin Owens and Carmelo Hayes put up a show to get their hands on the final spot and face Logan Paul for the United States title. Hayes intends to lay his dominance over an injured Owens, who has a case in one of his hands. The match was filled with reversal moves as both tried to get an edge. As Owens hits a Popup Powerbomb, Hayes misses Nothing but Net. He then lands a Swanton, which results in a Stunner. KO pins Melo and wins to advance to the final.  

Bobby Lashley vs Santos Escobar (U.S. Title Tournament Semifinal)

While Santos Escobar showed up strong, Bobby Lashley ran over him throughout the match like a steam engine. However, two lucha-masked assailants leapt on Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, which led to Lashley getting distracted. Escobar rolls up Lashley for the win, and the masked men turn out to be Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza.

AJ Styles vs Solo Sikoa (One-on-One Match)

AJ Styles was fired up in his return match as he was out to seek his vengeance. After the Bloodline took him out of action, this was an ideal chance for Styles to get his revenge by getting his hands on Solo Sikoa. However, the match ended in a disqualification as Roman Reigns attacked AJ during the match. It led to Randy Orton and LA Knight coming out to save Styles and give a beating to the Bloodline. However, AJ wasn't pleased to see them and attacked them as tensions flared up among the trio.
