Apple may add new toggle to Control Centre with next iOS 18.1 beta
The stable iOS 18.1 update may be ready for release to the public in mid-October, which is when the new toggles will become available.
Apple fixed severe software issues on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro with the iOS 18.0.1 update last week. However, owners of the iPhone 16 lineup, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, anticipate the release of iOS 18.1 as it would finally bring Apple Intelligence to eligible devices. Being the next major update, iOS 18.1 will also add other substantial features, including a new toggle to the Control Centre.
A user called Aaron Perris posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Apple is planning to change the Control Centre slightly by adding a toggle for satellite connectivity based on code changes. This will offer convenience as the toggle will move out of the combined connectivity module. The fresh changes are a part of the iOS 18.1 beta 6, which was originally scheduled to become available last week, but Apple has missed the window for unspecified reasons. Reports are rife that a last minute bug may have caused the delay and the company is likely preparing to introduce changes with the release candidate instead.
The company is also planning to include a dedicated Wi-Fi toggle for the Control Centre, so it will exist alongside its version that has so far been available inside the combined connectivity module. The last beta version added toggles for Wi-Fi and VPN connectivity. The bottom line is the dedicated buttons will allow iPhone users to access Wi-Fi, VPN, and satellite connectivity toggles similar to other toggles, making the entire experience a lot like Android.
The stable iOS 18.1 update may be ready for release to the public in mid-October, which is when the new toggles will become available on all eligible iPhone models. The beta release may precede the public release, but users must act with caution since the last few beta releases have turned out to be buggy and apparently caused freezes and bricked devices.
