Spotify is down for several users, company says we are aware

Spotify appears to be facing a widespread outage currently, impacting hundreds of users worldwide who took to X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit to report that the app and website have not been responding for roughly an hour. The company came into action swiftly and posted an acknowledgement on X, confirming the outage. The world's leading music streaming company said it is aware of the service's downtime and is working to fix it.

Spotify's community site also has an update for users. "We've been getting some reports that Spotify is down across platforms. The Support Site looks affected as well. We're currently aware of the situation and the relevant teams are working on it," reads a post with the title “Downtime September 29th: Spotify not working across multiple platforms.”

While the post on X and the community forum post do not mention how bad the outage is, Downdetector.com shows a sharp spike in number of outage reports from users. The dedicated outage page for Spotify also has multiple users saying they are not able to listen to music or podcasts in the app or the website. What apps are impacted by the outage remains unclear, however.

Spotify has yet to come up with a response as to whether the issue has been fixed or what caused it. According to The Verge, the outage seems to have impacted users in the US mostly, but the Indian version of Downdetector has sporadic reports from India. We at Republic were able to use Spotify and its services without issues, however.
