WhatsApp hacks: WhatsApp, just like Apple 's iCloud and Alphabet Inc's Google Account, offers support for passkeys. With passkey support, WhatsApp users can log into their accounts safely using conventional passwords that are easy to hack.

What is a passkey?

For the unversed, passkeys are an alternative to the conventional passwords. While they work across platforms, just like passwords, they are a lot safer especially against threats like phishing attacks, as they enable users to gain access to an account using biometric data such as fingerprint details and face identification data.

System requirements for using a passkey

While they offer an alternative to passwords, users need to meet some basic requirements to use them. The list includes a laptop or desktop that runs at least Windows 10, macOS Ventura, or ChromeOS 109, and a smartphone that runs at least iOS 16 or Android 9. Specifically for iOS powered devices, users need an iPhone 8 or a newer model running iOS 16 or newer OS to create and use a passkey in WhatsApp.

By enabling passkey support on WhatsApp, users can ensure that their data remains safe and inaccessible to everyone.

Here is a step-by-step guide that WhatsApp users can use to enable passkey in the app:
