Infinix launches its AI tools, virtual assistant that uses GPT-4o mini and Gemini

Infinix is the latest smartphone brand to join the AI fray by launching its artificial intelligence tools called Infinix AI. The company claims this “groundbreaking” solution will enhance user interaction on upcoming smartphones and allow users to take the help of GenAI features natively. Among the features is Infinix’s new virtual assistant, Folax, which combines the capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model and Google’s Gemini to offer solutions.

Folax also uses Infinix’s proprietary models over and above third-party models to support various inputs, including text, voice, and images and provide users with real-time responses. The company claims the virtual assistant can also offer personalised recommendations “for seamless and intuitive interactions.”

Besides Folax, Infinix’s new AI tools include productivity-centric features, such as Live Texts and Magic Create. Live Texts allows users to extract and summarise information from images and documents in a few seconds using AI, giving users a quick rundown of lengthy text or image-heavy files. It will help students and professionals retrieve information in a short time. Another feature called Writing Tools helps users in writing text by providing real-time grammar checks and style improvements on the fly. The tool also lets users recompose a message or text using AI in a desired tone. The company claims Writing Tools will ensure that emails, reports, and other written materials are polished and impactful with clarity, precision, and the right tone. Magic Create is another tool that helps users compose posts based on imagination.

For the images side of things, Infinix has introduced several tools: AI Wallpaper, AI Eraser, Smart Cutout, and AI Sketch. These tools work similarly to their counterparts on smartphones of other brands. The AI Wallpaper adapts to the cultural aesthetics of a region and designs a wallpaper with customised backgrounds. Other tools help in editing photos by allowing users to remove a person or an object from a photo and add more elements to a photo.

Infinix has said its new AI capabilities will be available on upcoming smartphones but has not specified if Infinix AI will come to the company’s low-end smartphones.
