Elon Musk is hiring Hindi-speaking AI tutors at up to Rs 5,500 per hour

Elon Musk has announced that his AI-focused firm called xAI is looking for AI tutors versed in at least two languages, including Hindi – a job he confirmed offers an hourly compensation of up to $65, roughly Rs 5,500. The job titled ‘AI Tutor - Bilingual’ is essentially a position where the chosen candidate will be responsible for training xAI’s models with data in different languages. While English is mandatory, the second language can be Hindi, French, Chinese, or Arabic.

For the role that will last six months and comes with benefits to work remotely, the company is taking applications from interested candidates from around the world. That means anyone eligible for the role from India can apply. However, their remuneration may vary depending on the kind of work setup (work from office or home) they opt for or are assigned. The job requires the candidate to be fluent in English and any of the secondary languages, which includes Hindi. That means the candidate must know both reading and writing in a particular language.

The job description further mentions that select candidates for the role of AI Tutor will work on projects that will be focused on enhancing xAI’s generative AI models. For that, professional knowledge of the language, research skills, and the ability to handle content in English and one of the listed languages is mandatory. Candidates with a background in technical writing, journalism, or professional writing, alongside experience working using one of the mentioned languages will be preferred. The company will require the candidates to take a test where their proficiency in the languages they have applied for will be evaluated, the basis on which they will be shortlisted for the next round.

Musk said xAI is offering an hourly compensation between $35 and $65 (roughly Rs 2,900 and Rs 5,500) to candidates depending on their expertise and qualifications. The AI Tutors will be work from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm in their local time zone. The job also comes with additional perks like medical and dental benefits.
