Apple likely to discontinue these products after iPhone 16 launch event

Apple is holding its annual event on September 9 in India. While it has traditionally kept quiet on what it plans to launch next week, the debut of the next-generation iPhone, Watch, and other accessories is highly likely. It is also the time when Apple quietly says goodbye to older products possibly because they have completed their shelf lives. The upcoming iPhone event, thus, could mark the end of official availability of at least 10 products. Here is a look at them.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

While just a year old, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will stop selling post the launch of their successors. It is a part of Apple’s strategy that it diligently follows each year to woo customers to the new models. The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may not be very different from last year’s models, so Apple would rather have customers buy the latest models.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus may also be discontinued after the launch of the iPhone 16 Plus. It is Apple’s first Plus model, which replaced the mini models. Since it will be two years old next week, the company wants customers to focus on newer models, including last year’s iPhone 15 Plus.

iPhone 13

One of Apple’s best-selling iPhone models, the iPhone 13, will also be discontinued post the launch event. It replaced iPhone 12 as the company’s basic model when it was launched in 2021.

Apple Watch Series 9, Watch Ultra 2, and Watch SE 2

Alongside the iPhone 16, Apple will likely launch the new Watch models. An Apple Watch Series 10, Watch Ultra 3, and Watch SE 3 are expected. That means last year’s models will be dropped from Apple’s official marketplaces.

AirPods 2 and AirPods 3

Apple may also discontinue selling AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 as it may launch the AirPods 4 next week. The AirPods 2 came out in 2019, while the successor AirPods 3 was launched in 2021.
