Apple ’s new iPhone 16 will likely shake up the premium market, which has already seen the debut of the latest generation of phones from rivals, Samsung and Google. The iPhone 16 tackles the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9 head-on with its Apple Intelligence features. While Samsung introduced AI features on its flagship phones earlier this year, Google became the first brand to introduce them with last year’s Pixel devices. The catch-up may be interesting in the AI arena, but on the hardware side of things, all three phones are more or less the same. Here is how the iPhone 16, Galaxy S24, and Pixel 9 are different.

Display: The iPhone 16 boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The Galaxy S24 uses a 6.2-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Lastly, the Pixel 9 comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits. The displays on the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24 also support Always-On Display functionality.
Processor: Apple has equipped the iPhone 16 with the latest A18 chipset with a hexa-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, paired with 8GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 uses an octa-core Exynos 2400 SoC, paired with an Xclipse 940 GPU and up to 12GB of RAM. The Pixel 9 is powered by the Tensor G4 chipset with an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G715 MC7 GPU, paired with 12GB of RAM. While the iPhone 16 and Galaxy S24 have up to 512GB of storage, the Pixel 9 is available in up to a 256GB storage option.
Cameras: iPhone 16’s rear cameras include a 48MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide sensor, while its FaceTime camera uses a 12MP sensor. The Galaxy S24, on the other hand, has a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Its selfie camera is also a 12MP shooter. The Pixel 9’s rear camera houses a 50MP main sensor and a 48MP ultrawide sensor, while its selfie camera uses a 10.5MP ultrawide sensor.
Battery: While Apple does not state the battery capacity of the iPhone officially, it announced the battery in the iPhone 16 supports 25W wired and 15W wireless fast charging technologies. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 has a 4000mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless fast charging. The Google Pixel 9 uses a 4700mAh battery with 27W wired and up to 15W wireless fast charging speed support.
