During the India Mobile Congress 2023, Jio displayed its upcoming JioGlass mixed reality headset, which supports both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) content. Originally announced at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) in 2020, these smart glasses are on the verge of launching in India. JioGlass offers the unique capability to switch between AR and VR modes and projects content on a substantial 'virtual screen.'
This cutting-edge mixed-reality wearable device is set to hit the Indian market shortly. While Jio has previously introduced VR-related products such as the JioDive VR headset, JioGlass is expected to carry a higher price tag.
Pricing for the JioGlass has not been officially disclosed, but it is anticipated to compete with similar products like the AjnaXR Pro and AjnaXR SE, priced at Rs. 1,54,999 and Rs. 84,999, respectively. The development of JioGlass was facilitated by Tesseract, a startup acquired by the Indian tech conglomerate. The device is currently listed as "coming soon" on the official website, suggesting that it may become available in the coming months.
Specifications
The JioGlass mixed reality device features dual full-HD displays with a 40-degree field-of-view, allowing for a 100-inch virtual screen experience, ideal for watching movies or sports content. These glasses have been certified by TÜV Rheinland for low blue light emissions, reducing eye strain. Additionally, magnetic prescription lenses can be fitted by an optician for those who require them, as per the Tesseract website.

JioGlass is equipped with a proximity sensor and a nine-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor. It operates on an undisclosed processor, boasts a 5-second boot-up time, and offers up to four hours of runtime in 3D mode, thanks to its 4,000mAh battery.
The device includes a USB Type-C port, which enables connectivity to iOS or Android smartphones with DisplayPort (DP) support, as well as to Windows or Mac computers. JioGlass is also equipped with an integrated microphone, facilitating voice calls through the headset.
