Google One Lite membership now available to some users, costs Rs 59
While Google has not officially announced the rollout of the Google One Lite plan, some Android users have spotted it in their Google One app.
Google may have begun rolling out a cheaper and trimmed-down version of its Google One membership in India. Called Google One Lite, the membership plan offers users a little more than the free storage, shared across different services, such as Google Photos, Gmail, and Google Drive. The Google One Lite plan is available as an option to new and existing subscribers next to plans that offer 100GB, 200GB, and 2TB storage annually.

The plan costs Rs 59 per month and offers subscribers 30GB of storage. That is double what users get under the free plan as soon as they create a Google account. It is also a cheaper cloud plan than iCloud+, under which Apple charges Rs 75 monthly for 50GB storage. However, since it is a ‘lite’ version of Google One, users will not receive facilities such as family sharing, premium features in the Photos app, and Gemini-powered AI features. The AI features are also not part of 100GB and 200GB Google One plans and are available only on higher tiers, such as the 2TB plan that costs Rs 1,950 per month.
While Google has not officially announced the rollout of the Google One Lite plan, some Android users have spotted it in their Google One app. The current availability could be part of Google One Lite’s phased rollout in India. New users are also eligible for a month’s trial while existing Google One subscribers can anytime downgrade from a higher plan. A few users also reported Google is offering discounts to boost the adoption of the plan as brands phase out external storage support on their smartphones across prices, except for the budget segment. Subscribers planning to buy a year’s membership of Google One Lite will pay Rs 589, which reduces the cost even further.
