Samsung Galaxy M05 launched with MediaTek processor but no 5G support

Samsung has launched the Galaxy M05, a new smartphone in the entry-level segment with highlighted features such as a MediaTek chipset and a 50MP camera system. The M05, however, lacks 5G support, which other brands recently began to offer in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment. Samsung is making up for the lack of 5G with extended software support – a rarity in this segment. The company said the Galaxy M05 would get Android version upgrades for two years and security updates for up to four years.

The Galaxy M05 costs Rs 7,999 for the single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone also has a single colour option called Mint Green. It is now available from Samsung’s online store, Amazon , and select offline retailers.

Featuring support for dual 4G SIM cards, the Galaxy M05 has a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD stuck at a 60Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Customers, however, can expand the storage using a microSD card of up to 1TB. Samsung has also equipped the phone with the virtual RAM expansion feature, called Samsung RAM Plus, through which customers can increase the RAM by up to 8GB.

The rear cameras on the Samsung Galaxy M05 include a 50MP main sensor with an F1.8 aperture and a 2MP second sensor with an F2.4 aperture. The selfie camera on the smartphone uses an 8MP sensor. Keeping the lights on is a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging through a USB-C port. The smartphone also offers a face unlock feature but lacks a fingerprint sensor. The connectivity options on the Galaxy M05 include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
