If you are a fan of Apple Macs then how would you react to the fact that the very first Apple personal computer – the Apple 1 developed by the legendary late Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak from within an actual garage, is set to be auctioned off. You could also take part and bid in the auction to own the vintage Apple-1 provided you could shell out a whopping Rs 3 crore (GBP 300000 to GBP 500000).

The very first Apple-1 about to be auctioned

The auction for the Apple-1 personal computer (developed in 1976) is being held on Christie’s and begins on 16 May at 9 am EST (around 6 PM IST). You could sign in to Christie’s to bid and follow the auction lot from here.

Here, it is worth knowing the original price of the Apple-1; which was advertised at $666.6 (Rs 47000 approx.). In case you are nostalgic with respect to Apple, then you should know that the Apple-1 machine up at the latest auction is amongst a very few survivors/rapidly dwindling ones. So, if you think that the Apple-1 is worth preserving and its legacy at least worth exhibiting rather than it face the axe, then you could attempt a bid at Christie’s.

The Apple-1 would be sold, at the auction, with its original set of user manuals, supporting accessories, and all hardware aspects that the current owner of this Apple-1 possesses.

Also, a lot of around 80 Apple-1 PCs are reportedly said to be in existence through individual enthusiasts as well as museums. At this point in time, it is worth noting that during an auction in April 2014, Apple enthusiasts even reportedly shelled out as much as $900,000 for the Apple-1. A bidding process in 2018 is said to have fetched $375,000 by bidders thereby indicating potentially dwindling interest.
